Ritual «A TT Y S»
On March 15th, the "ATTYS" ritual, performed by Ivan Smirnov, Yulia Sharkina, and Katarina Kano, took place at the [PRORUB'] art studio.

Attis is the name of the Phrygian deity of fertility, who died and was resurrected, just as vegetation, nourished by the earth, dies each winter only to be reborn with the coming of spring. The theme of death and return to life, inspired by observation of the cycles of the surrounding world, is often repeated in various cultural traditions, myths, and rituals and is associated with the names of Osiris, Dionysus, Adonis, and Jesus. To encounter this theme, one doesn't necessarily have to search for it in the distant past—it is so ingrained in the human mind that we sometimes find it difficult to recognize it in something familiar and customary. Like the myth of Attis itself, which has many interpretations, the imagery of the ritual named after him is contradictory and even mutually exclusive: the washing of the body before burial, exhumation, removal from the cross, autopsy, and resuscitation are combined into a single plot, the core of which is the idea of resurrection.
